Twizzle in Barnes

Barnes Pond and the village green

From our SW14 studio — just over the bridge — we’ve been planning parties for Barnes families since 1977.

Barnes is the closest neighbourhood to our studio, and in some ways the one we know best. A lot of our team lives here. Our children went to schools around here. We’ve delivered parties at houses on the Green, at homes off Castelnau, in gardens backing onto the Wetland Centre, and on barges moored along the Thames towpath. Barnes parents tend to want something specific — unpretentious, well-made, and done without fuss — and we’ve had forty-odd years to work out how to deliver it.

What Barnes families usually want

The typical Barnes brief is a Saturday-afternoon children’s party at home for twenty or thirty friends — a themed adventure, some decent food, a pack-down team that leaves the kitchen cleaner than they found it, and no surprises. Barnes is a village, and the parent network is fast and unforgiving. Get a party right here and you’ll be asked to do the next one before the last guest has left. Get it wrong and you’ll hear about it for years. We’ve been the “can you just ask Twizzle?” recommendation at enough school gates in Barnes to know that our job is essentially to be the obvious, safe, brilliant choice.

Barnes venues and settings

Most parties here happen at home — the wide Edwardian gardens in SW13 are unusually good for marquees, garden games, and outdoor theming. We’ve also delivered larger parties at the Olympic Studios private rooms, at Barn Elms Playing Fields, and in gardens overlooking the London Wetland Centre. For smaller or more intimate events, private rooms at local pubs and restaurants around Barnes High Street work well — we know which ones will actually let you hang a balloon arch and which will pretend to but ask you to take it down the moment guests arrive.

Honesty about price

Children’s parties in Barnes typically run £1,000 to £3,500. A Tiny Tots Discovery Party for toddlers starts at £300. A full afternoon with two entertainers, bespoke theming, catering, styling and staff is generally £2,500 to £3,500. Larger garden parties and marquee events start above that. Adult milestones and teen parties sit in a wider range depending on guest numbers and venue. We talk about money in the first conversation, not the last one.

Why Barnes families keep coming back

Because we’re local. Because the person answering your email today will still be the person checking the catering on the day. Because we know the difference between a Castelnau-side garden and a house on Church Road without asking. And because forty-nine years in business means there’s very little we haven’t already seen, solved, or quietly dealt with while the parents poured the wine.

Frequently asked questions

How much notice do you need for a Barnes party?

Four to eight weeks is ideal for peak season. Barnes weekends book up quickly in May, June and July — the earlier you can lock in a date, the better. Shorter-notice briefs are sometimes possible; call us and we’ll tell you straight.

Do you cover Castelnau, Mortlake and the rest of SW13?

Yes — full SW13 coverage from our Priests Bridge studio, plus the streets on the river side toward Putney and across to East Sheen.

Can you do events at Barnes Pond or Barnes Green?

Only where Richmond Council permissions allow. For most families, a private garden or home event delivers more creative control. We’ll tell you honestly which setting will work better for your brief.

Do you provide a full pack-down team?

Yes, always. Our staff pack down completely and leave the space cleaner than when they arrived — no bin bags on the driveway, no forgotten cables behind the sofa.
