The Twizzle Story

Two generations of showmen. One promise: the best party in the room — and not a word about it afterwards. Creating unforgettable parties since 1977.

It started on stage

Twizzle didn’t start with a business plan. It started in the theatre.

Peter Robertson’s father was a variety-theatre comedian and impressionist who went on to produce his own touring variety shows — and who worked children’s parties on the side, with young Peter beside him on stage as his stooge and assistant from the age of five. Peter grew up backstage, learning timing, surprise and how to hold a room before most children learn to ride a bike.

His own first solo party was at the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977 — the year Twizzle began. By then he had already learned the one thing that matters about a children’s audience: they cannot fake politeness. If it isn’t good, they show you instantly. Nearly five decades of parties have been built on getting that right.

From the West End to the front row

Before Twizzle became what it is today, Peter spent twenty-five years on the professional stage under the name Peter Bruce.

He trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and spent the 1980s in the West End — Tony in West Side Story at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Feuilly in Les Misérables at the Palace, and The Pirates of Penzance at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Everything a great show relies on — scale, choreography, lighting, sound, comic timing, the art of commanding a room — he then turned on the most demanding audience in the world: a six-year-old’s birthday party.

That is what makes a Twizzle party different. It is run with the craft of the theatre, by people who have actually stood on a stage and earned an audience.

Trusted quietly

Over the years, Twizzle has looked after some of the most recognisable families in Britain and beyond — from music and film to fashion and business, alongside European and Saudi royal families.

We are known for our discretion, and confidentiality agreements protect the details of those engagements — which is exactly why those families trust us, come back, and quietly recommend us to one another. You’ll find no private stories here and no photographs of other people’s children. If we look after the most private families in the country without a whisper, you can be certain we’ll look after yours the same way.

Twizzle’s clients have included the Beckhams, Mick Jagger, Madonna and Guy Ritchie, Paul and Stella McCartney, Jamie Oliver, Michael McIntyre, Claudia Schiffer and Elle Macpherson.

Seen on the biggest stages

The same theatre-craft that runs a children’s party also runs a red carpet. Through Twizzle Productions, that team has delivered entertainment and live events for major film premieres — Kung Fu Panda 2, Shrek 4 and Finding Dory — the launch of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter, national brand roadshows, and corporate clients including Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, Crédit Agricole and Caffè Nero.

And through his separate consultancy, Filming with Kids, Peter has spent thirty-five years directing children on camera — including as Child Action Adviser to Sir Kenneth Branagh on Disney’s Cinderella. (filmingwithkids.co.uk)

What hasn’t changed

Two generations. Countless parties. One standard.

Real entertainers who know their craft, not agencies passing on a phone number. Safety and professionalism taken as seriously as the magic. And an obsessive belief that a party should be effortless for the person paying for it and unforgettable for the person it’s for. That’s the promise the family made on the variety stage, and it’s the one Twizzle still keeps today.

Let’s plan yours.

Tell us the age, the date and the rough idea — we’ll take care of the rest.
